We had another stimulating discussion around how our work relates to CACity, the upcoming workshop and funding application. One of the main topics was to exchange information about publications in this field of study. We talked about books by our keynote speakers, Laura Rascaroli, Mark Shiel, and Francois Penz as well as Taking Place: Location and the Moving Image by J. D. Rhodes and E. Garfinkel, and Film and Urban Space by G. Pratt and R. M. San Juan. Publications

 

The provocative 'Urban Mythology' we screened in collaboration with DoCoMoMo Ireland was entitled Pruitt Igoe Myth. It tells the story of the failure of this US housing development from the point of view of the users, deliberately excluding the architects. We were privileged to have architectural historian Dr Tanja Poppelreuter of University of Ulster who introduced the film by talking about the idea of the tower block across the globe.
